Our awareness that all animals have feelings,
emotions, and a culture of their own, has journeyed a long way. I
have met people who are working on communication with dolphins
and whales. I have put my hand on the head of an elephant and
felt the vibration of its communication mechanism. I've lived
with a lion and leopards, played with tigers. My own personal
experience has taught me that there are wild animals with more
equitable characters than many humans - and vice versa. Science
has shown us that animals do communicate. This global
consciousness is only just gathering momentum and could totally
change our attitudes and our scientific management of wildlife
habitats.
